Congratulations Elks Contest Winners!
The Johnstown B.P.O.E. Elks # 175 would like to thank all the students from Portage Elementary School who participated in the Drug Awareness Poster Contest Grades 3-5 and the Essay Contest Grade 6.
This year theme was “DRUG ABUSE NO EXCUSE”.
The Central Region of the Elks chose the following students:
Drug Awareness Essay Contest- Kendall Stancovich (grade 6) placed 2nd and received a check for $25.00 and a certificate.
Drug Awareness Poster contest-Kiana Silvis (grade 4) placed 2nd and received a check for $25.00 and a certificate.
Drug Awareness Poster contest-Cooper Wright (grade 5) placed 3rd and received a check for $25.00 and a certificate.
Entries into the Learning Lamp and Cambria County Drug & Alcohol Program Positive Message contest.
These students prepared social media posts to participate in the 2021 National Prevention Week: Kayley Sossong, Koby Kargo, Luci McCabe, and Lauren Shaffer. The themes were based on our 2019 PA Youth Survey results and demonstrate how "Majority RULES" at Portage Area Jr/Sr High School!

We are excited to announce that Penn State Altoona will be offering summer camps for area youth again this year. Due to Covid all camps will be offered virtually in a variety of formats. The camps this summer include STEM related topics, history, arts and video game programming. We will also be offering our Sense-ational Endeavors camp for children with sensory issues.
