Today we visited the poorest part of the capital city San Jose. It was a community of 34,000 Nicaraguan immigrants. Nicaragua is a country just north of Costa Rica and is very poor with no work. The people move to Costa Rica to pursue a better life.
In this neighborhood the houses are very small and built from old tin and wood. They don't look like the houses we have at home. I saw some schools and children.
We went to a Foundation that gives food and other help to the people living there. The people are very poor and appreciate what the Foundation does for them. Everyone was so happy to see us and to talk and play with us! Afterwards, I walked around the community and then left to go back to our room. All of the playing and talking made me very tired!
